MIIDI – a Minimal Information reporting standard for an Infectious Disease Investigation
The purpose of MIIDI is to facilitate the creation of metadata that will enable resource discovery of datasets and articles of relevance to infectious disease investigations, for the benefit of epidemiologists, those undertaking systematic reviews, and many others. This is more fully explained in the document Purpose_and_Use_of_MIIDI.
MIIDI Version 0.2
The pre-Workshop second release of the MIIDI Standard is available here. This Version 0.2 supercedes version 0.1 of the MIIDI Standard created by David Shotton, with assistance from Lucy Mason, Hila Levy, and from members of the infectious disease community who kindly responded to requests for feedback on an earlier draft. Workshop participants are encouraged to review this document before the workshop.
The following metadata documents created using MIDDI version 0.2 are also available:
Attaran_cytotoxicity_video_in_MIIDI_v0.2.xls.
Attaran_PNAS_Paper_in_MIIDI_v0.2_Cell_biology_article.xls.
Brunton_in_MIIDI_v0.2_Clinical_report.xls.
Reis_et_al_in_MIIDI_v0.2_epidemiological_investigation.xls.

Workshop information
A workshop will be held at Wolfson College, Oxford, UK, on 1-3 September 2009, to develop MIIDI. The objective of the workshop is to agree the structure of this minimum information standard, so that it might be used to create metadata to accompany research datasets relevant to infectious disease, and to summarize the content of published articles describing infectious disease investigations, particularly as the basis for the creation of Structured Digital Abstracts of relevant journal articles.
This wiki page provides information about the workshop, and links to relevant information.
Minutes of the Workshop
The Minutes of the Workshop sessions are posted on the following sites:
Day 1 is posted here.
Day 2 is posted here.
Day 3 is posted here.
Workshop joining instructions
Joining Instructions for workshop participants are available here.
Workshop participants
The workshop has been organized by Dr. David Shotton (Image Bioinformatics Research Group, Department of Zoology, University of Oxford) and Dr. Douglas Altman (Centre for Statistics in Medicine, University of Oxford). A list of workshop participants and their affiliations and e-mail addresses is available here.
Workshop participants are requested to submit their correct personal details by downloading and completing a blank form prepared for this purpose from here, and mailing it to Lucy Mason (mailto:lucy.mason@new.ox.ac.uk) with the filename YourSurname_Personal_Details_ Document.doc.
