MAXD

CEH database system for 'omics

This material needs reorganizing -- more detailed review of maxd and separate section for MIAME under ontologies and schema.

Forwarded by Bela Tiwari:

"Giles and I have been working on making a fully customisable version of maxdLoad2 and maxdBrowse. We've now got it to the state where you can specify any database model you want using our XML-based syntax and then have maxdLoad2 build you a database and let you populate using all of the normal features (i.e. interactive create/browse, bulk loading and batch scripted loading). Similarly, maxdBrowse can now construct a web-interface to the database and give you the full browsing experience. We don't have the maxdFlash version ofd browsing working yet, but hopefully this will be available shortly.

So in terms of what Graham might be interested in, we can now demo the ability to build an arbitrary database (perhaps one built by extending the the generic schema) and to construct a web front end to it. This is analogous to what you'll be able to do with omixed.org (although in that case, you'd be doing everything via the web interface, rather than using the Java client for database setup and population)."
