Summary here:
| NISO Z39.87and NISO MIX together support the long-term access to and usability of digital still images by defining and providing a structure within which to record, store, and transport the data elements necessary to migrate, refresh, validate, and otherwise manage and accurately display digital images in all stages of a file’s life-cycle. (...)
NISO Z39.87 defines data elements for recording the conditions and environment under which a given image was created, specifying basic image attributes, and documenting changes to and manipulations of the image. The draft standard also specifies whether a given element is mandatory, recommended, or optional; provides examples of content values; and indicates whether the element would be used by the system containing the data, a person who is responsible for managing the data, or an end user of the digital image. NISO MIX, the scheme implementation in XML, mirrors the structure outlined in NISO Z39.87. |
