AKT reference ontology

The AKT Reference Ontology has been developed by the AKT partners to represent the knowledge used in the CS AKTive Portal testbed, and consists of several sub-ontologies:

  • Support Ontology - Top level ontology, providing basic definitions used by the portal ontology, including a simple representation of temporal objects.
  • Portal Ontology - The main ontology, describing people, projects, publications, geographical data, etc.
  • Extensions Ontology - An ontology of definitions which are in use, but which have not been reviewed by the AKT partners and agreed for inclusion in the portal ontology.
  • RDF Compatibility Ontology - An ontology of definitions intended to improve compatibility between the AKT Reference Ontology and RDF(S).
  • INCA Ontology - An ontology which joins the <I-N-C-A> model with the AKT Reference Ontology.

As far as I can tell from the above summary, the topics covered here are overlaps with other, more widely used ontologies. I haven't been able to find a human-readable quick overview of the concepts and relations covered. In the time available, I'm inclined to pass over these ontologies for now.
