Multimedia Vocabularies on the Semantic Web
W3C Incubator Group Report
This report surveys a number of formats and vocabularies for describing multimedia data on the web, organized under different media types:
Still images:
- VRA core
- EXIF
- NISO Z39.87
- DIG35
- PhotoRDF
Audio:
- ID3
- MusicBrainz
- MusicXML
Audio-visual:
- MPEG7
- AAF (Advanced Authoring Format)
- MXF (Material Exchange Format)
Multimedia presentations:
- SMIL
Workflow or domain specific:
- NewsML-G2
- TVAnytime
- MPEG-21 (hmmm... not really domain-specific, I think)
- EBU P/Meta (European Broadcasting Union)
Other Multimedia Metadata Related Formats:
- Dublin Core
- XMP and IPTC Metadata for XMP
There is also a section that discusses some approaches for converting existing multimedia metadata into RDF / OWL, for the purpose of interoperability, reasoning, etc.
