JISC Images Working Group
- http://www.jisc-collections.ac.uk/workinggroups/images.aspx
- There was a link at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/index.cfm?name=wg_images_home, but this is now broken. Not a "cool URI"!
"The images working group provides advice on collecting and development priorities for still image resources through a process which identifies and responds to user needs and supports the execution of the JISC Strategic Framework (incorporating the JISC Collections strategy and the JISC Development strategy what's this?)."
"The core aims of the images working group, as defined in the JISC Collections strategy:
- Secure access to a critical mass of high quality image collections including discovery tools
- Develop a service environment to support their use in learning, teaching and research
- Engage with rights owners to develop a shared consensus about access terms and conditions
The images working group prepares and annualy updates a two-year work programme consisting of a schedule of activities and target outcomes, for annual endorsement by the JISC Content Services committee."
These broad statements come fromt he JISC web site, but supporting information is less obvious. So far, the working group appears to have published just one report, and I cannot find a copy of the current "two-year work programme". In principle, this group should be relevant to our work, but it's hard to see how we might usefully engage.
