IBM Life Science Data Integration
At IBM (technology development, not research), Lee Feigenbaum, Elias Torres, and colleagues have done interesting work on life science data integration, using RDF, SPARQL, Javascript, JSON, microtemplates, etc. They gave a talk at the WWW2006 conference. Here are some other links I found to their work:
- http://www.thefigtrees.net/lee/blog/2007/01/using_rdf_on_the_web_a_survey.html - a survey by Lee FeigenBaum of techniques to use RDF on the web
- http://torrez.us/archives/2006/07/17/471/ - Queso seems to be generating some buzz. It appears to be a very lightweight approach to mixing human- and machine-readable content.
Overall, my impression is that (with the possible exception of Queso), these guys are mainly experimenting with loads of available tools and data to see what they can make of them. I'm sure there's lots to learn from their experience.
