- Progress review focused on slides 5, 6 and 7 from this presentation.
- Feedback and advice from Advisory Group
- Discussion of collaboration, synergies and other projects
- PJ talked about UKRDS (UK Research Data Service) plans, and its potential implications for us. Plans are very much under discussion, so I won't attempt to make any more detailed report here.
- GK reported on discussions at the JISCMRD meeting with JW and AA about using the Databank back-end for SUDAMIH metadata. Moving to consensus between SUDAMIH and OULS has somewhat stalled, and it was felt that exploring use of Databank would help to focus OULS effort and provide some concrete basis for developing SUDAMIH requirements. PJ was keen for this avenue to be explored.
- We discussed use of a local data management store (a la admiral) for papers as well as data– Infer link between papers and data. Drag and drop papers as we’ve discussed before. For a future project perhaps. (@@is this right?)
- PM-R talked about Clarion. It was suggested his EmMa (Embargo Manager) might be used between the staging archive and Databank repository. Admiral data could be fed into Emma. We also discussed possible use of Shuffl to create an alternative interface for creating Embargo policies, especially to create metadata files in a data package that could be used later by EmMa. PM-R mentioned the SPECTRA (embargo?) ontology might be used for this.
- DMS would like to test Dryad uk (new project being submitted to JISC) with ORA /Databank. Dryad receives notifications/metadata of datasets and publications. The metadata is deposited in Dryad. Papers and datasets could be deposited in ORA /DataBank
- GK noted that the HALOGEN project (reporting at the JISCMRD meeting earlier in the week) talked about a researcher-created data glossary. Without knowing exactly what this is, it seems to be a possibility for a much-needed link between researchers' domain-specific view of their data, and the institutional cross-domain view.
Actions
(Others? TBD)
